Aly DiNas started her career in the club scene four years ago, chancing upon a
subpromoter job at a large Washington, DC nightclub. Hooked on the scene almost
immediately, she began working with numerous venues in DC and later moved operations
to New York, where she first encountered real house nights. The music enthralled
her and in just the span of a few years she worked her way through the hierarchy
of the scene until she was booking important DJs and organizing parties at some
of the top venues in New York. Spending a lot of time around DJs, Aly became fascinated
with what she considered the ultimate position in the nightlife scene and shortly
thereafter began her own DJ career, feeding on a ceaseless passion for house music
and EDM in general.
She started small, learning to mix with about a dozen records while courageously
broadcasting it all on her universitys radio station. As she began to develop
her mixing skills, Aly was quickly noticed by promoters all over the east coast.
After just a few months on the decks, she was receiving regular bookings requests.
She picked a dramatic entrance to the scene, playing her first gig on New Years
Eve at the W Hotel in Times Square. Following a shining success at that gig, Aly
moved on to play Exit, New Yorks largest nightclub, followed by her own
Bon Voyage Party at the trendy nightspot Float, a special send-off for the five
months she would spend in Italy.
Just a few days after landing in Florence, Italy, Aly was already on the decks
overseas, playing a Friday night spot at XO Discobar, a popular venue in the heart
of the city. Just a week later, she nailed down a residency at the Blob Club,
a members-only lounge downtown. When she wasnt playing out, Aly could be
found either in the Italian record shops or in the booth at various venues learning
the techniques and styles of the European DJs. Applying aspects of their sets
to her own New York inspired style, Aly sculpted a personal style based in funky,
euro-disco and tech house, with breaks and tribal interlaced. Her work at refinement
paid off, landing her a monthly guest spot at the beautiful venue Il Caldetino,
a villa-turned-nightspot near Mugello. Enthusiastic recommendations from promoters
there then brought her to the decks at Ex-Mud, one of Florences top house
clubs, as the headliner for the clubs summer season closing party. There,
she played for an energetic and responsive crowd that greeted her set with cheers,
whistles and frenzied dancing all around.
In July, DJ Aly DiNas returned to the states and has since been playing parties
in New York and Washington, DC at such respected and popular venues as Eugenes,
Andalu and FIVE, while still playing her original radio show at the university.
In just a little over a year, her DJing career has developed from a once-weekly
mix show on a tiny radio station to an overseas odyssey. Looking forward to many
more memorable experiences both at home and abroad, Aly is available for bookings
both in the US and elsewhere. |
